Dry needling involves penetration of the skin using solid filiform needles, similar to acupuncture.
This technique is commonly used by chiropractors and physiotherapists for various musculoskeletal conditions, with the goal of producing a positive neurophysiological change to the impacted muscles and other tissues.
Dry needling has also recently gained popularity as a natural cosmetic enhancement treatment. It is thought to increase collagen production, reduce the appearance of fine lines, brighten complexion and enhance overall facial muscle tone.

FAQ's
How many dry needling sessions are needed? This varies greatly depending on the patient, the condition and the patient's goals. We will be able to give you a general idea during your initial appointment, once the history and physical examination are completed.
What is involved during a dry needling appointment? We first take a full history and perform a physical examination of your complaint. If we feel dry needling or a combination of chiropractic and dry needling can help, we will discuss the proposed care and begin that session.
Does dry needling hurt? Generally, dry needling isn't painful. There might be some slight discomfort as the needle is inserted, but usually settles pretty quickly. If it doesn't, just let us know, so we can make you more comfortable.
How does a chiropractic session for back pain at Move Strong Clinic differ from physiotherapy? Every chiro and physio will be slightly different in their approach. However, at Move Strong Clinic, we believe that a good chiro and a good physio should be more similar in their approach than not. Although chiropractors traditionally focus on adjusting the joints, we believe that exercise and dealing with the soft tissues is equally important to achieve optimal results.
